Sundanese Language and its Usage Today
Friday, August, 8th 2008 held Monthly Sundanese Discussion.
at Taman Kliningan II No. 5 Bandung.
The speakers are Mr. Cece Sobarna, the lecture from Literature Faculty Unpad and Mr. Cece Hidayat, Sundanese Language's teacher in Junior High School No.13 Bandung.
Mr. Cece Sobarna said that the death of a language caused by two cases. Language Suicide and Language Murder. According him, Sundanese language is in unsafely language. It is caused by: Foreign language influence in Sundanese society. Modernization force many Sundanese parents do not let their children speaking Sundanese language but they proud of foreign language for their children.
Indonesian government promised to take care of every sort of Indonesian culture (Sundanese culture is one of them). Protecting its growth etc. Especially, West Java Province government where the most population are Sundanese has an obligation to protect Sundanese language.
In fact, the government has not enough attention to Sundanese language. Proven by Sundanese Books that spreads among the students are not good. they are false in information. and will lead astray to the students.
The Sundanese language team from West Java Province has get them back to protect the student from the losing way.
Mr. Cece Hidayat, one of the Sundanese language's teacher has been struggling to develops his students ability in Sundanese language, through reading, writing or even palying drama etc.He was the best Sundanese language's teacher whose gotten Hardjapamekas appreciation.

Who is Arifin Muftie

Arifin Muftie is a Sundanese writer, born in Yogyakarta 1953. Lives in Bandung.
in 1972 he decided to come in to Bandung Technology Institute or ITB, after graduation in 1980 he worked in PT. INTI Bandung until 1996. Before retiring from that telecommunication corporation, he was a General Manager Corporate Secretary. Between 1996 until 2003 he became an Executive in telecommunication consultant corporation in Surabaya. He was also teaching in Management Business Institute in 1998 until 2003.
Today, he is director of PT. EPP, the management and strategic consultant corporation in Jakarta.
The works of his are:
1. Mateatika Alam Semesta; Kodifikasi Bilangan Prima Dalam Al-Quran (universe math)

The Mask and Kujang

June, 20 2008 on Friday. There was a discussion named Sawala Pusat Studi Sunda, held in Indonesia Menggugat Building at Perintis Kemerdekaan Street no.5 Bandung.
The theme is about The Mask and Kujang, presented by Ayuningsih, the lecturer from STSI, speaking about the mask and Suryadi, the lecturer from UPI Bandung, speaking about kujang.
In ancient Africa, the mask is used behind the human face. it useful to deceive wild animals when they were in the jungle avoiding the dangerous of them. but lately it's doesn't work well. many animals attacks many people in the jungle.
The mask is known for along time ago. it's in the

In the ancient period, using the mask is such a habit they believe in the magic in the mask. Some were using the animal mask, to step award the animals they looking for.
there was a very very heavy great gold mask in china whose weight is three thousand kilogram. and so many other mask that spreads in the universe.
Ayuningsih was describing about Cirebon Mask at Sangit, Klangenan, Cirebon. The mask from famous Arja Family. it's derived from Majapahit kingdom East Java. The story about Panji, the hero, was believed owning the divinepower and an artistic in his period. it's proven in five kinds of his masks. The masks are: Panji mask, Pamindo mask, Rumyang mask, Patih mask and Klana mask. Every mask has its own meaning.

Panji mask, symbol of center of life purpose. it shows paradox using in a dance with no moving but a little bit. It has no hair. the face is always down, the eyes are slanting or narrowed eyes, smiling face and has urna (such as an ornament) in its forehead. Panji doesn't live in the real world but it lives in kayangan (in the paradise) .... (to be continued)

International Symposium for Indonesian Archipelago Manuscript
International symposium for Indonesian archipelago manuscript held in Bandung for four days at Graha Sanusi Building Unpad Dipatiukur Bandung.
The usage of manuscript for the society is the theme that was discussed leading by twenty three philologists from the variety manuscript community in Indonesia.
They are:
